Alright, so, you wanna hear about that soccer game, the one with LAFC and Monterrey? Yeah, I watched it. Couldn’t make heads or tails of all them fancy moves sometimes, but I got the gist of it. Lemme tell ya, it was a real nail-biter, back and forth, like a couple of cats fightin’ over a fish bone.
First off, them fellas from Monterrey, they were somethin’ else. Real quick on their feet, like jackrabbits. They scored first, I think. Yeah, pretty sure they did. Then LAFC, they got their act together and popped one in too. Back and forth, see? Like I said, just like them cats.
- Monterrey scored.
- Then LAFC scored.
- Then Monterrey again! Those rascals!
The final score, if I remember right, and my memory ain’t what it used to be, was 3 to 2. Monterrey won. Yep, they sure did. LAFC, they put up a good fight, though. Can’t fault ’em for that. They ran around a lot, kicked that ball all over the place. Sometimes it went where they wanted, sometimes it didn’t. That’s soccer for ya, I guess.
Now, they had all these numbers, stats they called ’em. Said stuff about who kicked the ball the most, who ran the fastest, who fell down the least. Honestly, most of it went right over my head. Too much thinkin’ for an old woman like me. I just watched the ball, see who kicked it in the net.
I heard someone sayin’ somethin’ about this being some kinda cup game, the Leagues Cup, I think they called it. Sounded important. Folks were cheerin’ and hollerin’. Made me think of the county fair back home, only with more runnin’ and less pie eatin’. Though, I bet them fellas could eat a whole pie after all that runnin’ around.
LAFC, they got some good players, I reckon. Heard someone talkin’ about their manager, said he was the best or somethin’. Sports Executive of the Year, they called him. Big deal, I guess. He must be doin’ somethin’ right, ’cause them boys play hard. They just couldn’t quite get it done this time, though.
And Monterrey? Well, they were just a bit better that night. A bit quicker, a bit luckier, maybe. They sure knew how to get that ball in the net. That’s what counts in the end, ain’t it? Scorin’ more goals than the other fella.
I also heard some folks talkin’ about watchin’ the game on somethin’ called Apple TV. Imagine that! Watchin’ a game on a fruit! Well, not really on a fruit, I guess. It’s all this newfangled technology. Hard to keep up with it all these days. Back in my day, we just went to the field to watch the game. Simple as that.
Anyways, that’s about all I got to say about that game. Monterrey won, LAFC lost. Lots of runnin’, lots of kickin’, and a whole lotta yellin’. It was entertainin’, I’ll give it that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself a cup of tea. All this talkin’ about soccer has made me tired.
One more thing, they said the game was on August 11th, or maybe it was the 12th. Somewhere around there. And it was played in somethin’ called the Rose Bowl, or maybe it was another place. They play in so many places these days, hard to keep track.
So, yeah, that’s the story of that LAFC and Monterrey game, as best as I can remember it. Hope it made some sense to ya. Now, where’s that tea kettle…?
