Well, let me tell ya about this horse, Marie’s Rock. Yeah, that’s the one. Heard tell she’s done with racin’ now. Nine years old, they say. That’s a good long run for a horse, ain’t it? Bet she’s seen a thing or two.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these fancy horse races, but I know a good horse when I see one. And from what folks are sayin’, Marie’s Rock, she was somethin’ special. Won all sorts of races, they say. Cheltenham, Punchestown, Doncaster… sounds like fancy places. Never been myself, mind you. Too busy tendin’ to my own chores.
They paid good money for her, that’s for sure. Thirty-five thousand euros, someone said. That’s a whole lotta money! Gotta be a good horse to be worth that much. And winnin’ all them races, well, that just proves it. First horse for them Middleham Park Racing folks to win more than once at the top level, they say. Good for them.
- Born in March, 2015, they say. Spring baby, just like my grandkid. Always full of energy, those spring babies.
- A mare, she is. A girl horse. Always had a soft spot for the girls. Tough as nails, though, these racin’ mares.
- Milan was her daddy, whatever that means. Guess that’s important in horse racin’ circles.
- And Nicky Henderson, he trained her. Heard he’s a real good trainer. Must be, seein’ as how well Marie’s Rock did.
Seventy-two winners at Cheltenham, that fella Henderson’s got. That’s a lot, ain’t it? Marie’s Rock was one of ’em. Made him proud, I bet. Win her somethin’ called the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham. Sounds important.
Started racin’ at a place called Ffos Las in 2019. Won her first race there. That’s a good start, ain’t it? Always good to start off on the right foot, I say. Or hoof, in this case. Heh.
They’re callin’ it a “glittering career.” Well, I reckon it was. Winning all them races, bringin’ home the bacon, as they say. Made a lot of folks happy, I’m sure. Them owners, the trainer, and all them folks who put their money on her. Hope they gave her lots of treats after each win.
Retirement now, though. No more racin’ for Marie’s Rock. She’s done her time, put in her work. Deserves a rest, I say. Probably gonna go live on a nice farm somewhere, eat grass all day, and just enjoy bein’ a horse. Hope they give her lots of apples. Horses love apples.
So there ya have it. Marie’s Rock. A good horse, a winner. Done with racin’, but not forgotten. She’ll be remembered, I reckon. For all them wins, all them races. And for bein’ a darn good horse.
