Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here horse, Onemorefortheroad. I ain’t no fancy horse expert, mind you, just tellin’ it like I see it. This here horse, they say he’s a gelding, means he ain’t a stallion no more, if ya catch my drift. Six years old, they tell me. Been around the track a few times, I reckon.
Now, I don’t know nothin’ ’bout all them fancy horse breeds, like Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses. Heard tell they’re fast, but Onemorefortheroad, he seems plenty fast to me. They say some horse named Winning Brew is the fastest ever, but I ain’t never seen him run. This Onemorefortheroad, he’s trained by some fella named J Peters, over in Singapore, wherever that is. A long ways away, I’d bet.
They got all sorts of numbers and stats on him, like how many races he’s won and all that. I can’t make heads or tails of it, too many numbers for this old brain. But I reckon if they keep trackin’ all that, he must be a pretty good horse. They got websites and such, where you can look him up. They got his “profile,” they call it, with his “race record” and “results.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it just means they write down how he did in each race.
- They tell ya when he’s gonna race next, “future entries” they call it.
- And they show ya pictures of him too, a whole “photo gallery.”
- And news, if anything excitin’ happens with him.
I seen some of them pictures. He’s a handsome fella, Onemorefortheroad is. Got a strong look to him. You can see he’s got the spirit. They say you can “follow and track” your favorite horses. I guess that means you can keep up with how they’re doin’. Folks get real attached to these horses, you know. Spend a lot of time and money on ’em.
I heard some fella on the TV talkin’ ’bout horse racin’. Alex Hammond, they called him. He’s on somethin’ called Sky Sports. He talks about the races and gives the results, and talks about the horses and the jockeys. The jockeys, them’s the little fellas that ride the horses. Brave little fellas, I tell ya, ridin’ them big ol’ horses at top speed.
Onemorefortheroad, he’s been racin’ for a while now. They got records goin’ back to 2015, maybe even earlier. And they still got stuff on him from just a few weeks ago, November 2024. So, he’s been at it for a good long time. Must be a tough horse, and a good one, to keep racin’ that long. They got all these stats and details, you know, for folks who like to keep track of that sort of thing. I just like to see ’em run, myself. It’s somethin’ to see, them horses thunderin’ down the track.
It ain’t just about the winnin’, though that’s nice, I reckon. It’s about the horse, the spirit of the thing. Onemorefortheroad, he’s got that spirit. You can see it in his eyes, in the way he moves. He’s a runner, that’s what he is. And he’ll keep on runnin’, I bet, for as long as they let him. Onemorefortheroad… that’s a name you won’t forget, once you’ve seen him go.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say ‘bout that horse. He runs, he wins sometimes, sometimes he don’t. That’s racing, I reckon. Just like life, sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. But you keep on goin’, just like Onemorefortheroad.
